The Project

In business for close to three decades, Staples is a familiar sight in every Canadian province, its red-and-white logo a beacon for consumers looking for office supplies, business machines, office furniture, and business services. The stores are designed to be bright, open, and well organized. Omni had successfully managed facility maintenance for a number of Staples stores and was called to step in to clean up and rebuild after a major water main collapse at one of the company’s Calgary locations.

Omni's Role

Omni was contacted after the original general contractor hired by Staples failed to adhere to the schedule or costs mandated after the water main failure. Omni’s team of experts got to work quickly, replacing the entire water main both outside and inside. The job was a complex one that included the excavation of the parking lot, trenching, fencing, and the installation of a new water main, a temporary water cistern, and washrooms. Omni then managed the reconstruction of the parking lot and the required landscaping. Even with the necessity of obtaining multiple permits from city officials, Omni completed the multifaceted project in just four months, allowing Staples to get its store up and running in a timely fashion.
